Local-first product story
Private by default — not as a slogan
Hey Lunem is a Windows learning companion designed so your memories, lessons, and settings stay on your device unless you clearly choose an external service.
Short version: Sign in once to activate. After that, day-to-day learning data lives on your Windows profile. Screen pixels are only read when a request needs them and you allow it.
What stays on your PC
- Memories, focus threads, lessons, and preferences
- Provider API keys encrypted with Windows DPAPI
- Screen-access history as metadata only — never screenshot pixels
- Optional fully local reasoning via Ollama
Screen access you control
Modes include Never, Ask every time (default), and Allow for visual requests. Sensitive windows such as password managers and banking are blocked heuristically. A visible indicator shows when Lunem looked.
When something leaves the device
- Sign-in through your chosen auth provider
- Cloud models you explicitly configure (or Lunem Cloud)
- Optional voice transcription if you add an AssemblyAI key in Mic test
- Optional web lookups you can disable in Privacy
